Electronics Engineer – Consumer Electronics

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced electronics engineer to join our team. You’ll bring enthusiasm and a track-record of hardware design and delivery to work on our class-leading audio interfaces.

This role would suit a candidate with professional experience in audio, consumer electronics or related industries, and with an active interest in audio and music technology. We support flexible working, but due to the hands-on nature of the role you’ll need to attend our office in High Wycombe regularly.

 

Duties will include:

You’ll be the design authority for your hardware and will take it through its full life cycle from concept to production.

Working with Product Owners on specifications and planning, you’ll have significant system-level input to our products. You’ll design schematics and PCBs to quality, cost, and regulatory requirements, and deliver them against production schedules. This means you’ll need strong analytical and planning skills, and to be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll be working with a team of experienced engineers who are on hand to support you, including Mechanical, QA, and Production engineers to prepare for volume manufacture. You’ll be involved in investigating new technologies in line with our roadmaps, supporting production and making enhancements to our existing products.

 

You can expect to be involved with:

Design of preamplifiers, analogue signal processing, A-D/D-A conversion, linear and switching PSUs, processors and interfacing, user-interfaces.

PCB design including floor planning, cost optimisation, mechanical integration, signal, and power integrity.

Debugging designs to meet product performance requirements (EIN, THD etc.) and regulatory standards (EMCD/RED, Safety),

Optimising designs for low-cost and high-volume manufacture.

 

 

 

 

Required skills and experience – you should apply for this role if you have:

A degree or HND in Electronics Engineering (or related subject).

Minimum of two years professional experience in an electronics design role.

Practical and systematic debugging skills for analogue and digital electronics.

Ability to achieve quality requirements at optimal cost.

Confidence taking ownership of a design throughout the development process.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work under pressure, learning and applying new skills quickly.

 

Desirable skills and experience – it would be an advantage if you have:

Consumer electronics, professional audio, or related industry experience.

Designed products for high-volume mass production.

Taken your designs through EMCD / RED approvals.

Mixed-signal PCB layout experience.

Knowledge of audio performance testing methods and standards.

An active interest in making music and music technology.
