Job Description Summary
The Lead Controls Engineer works as part of the Hybrids controls engineering team in an international environment and will be responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of GE’s Hybrid Software and Control Systems. This includes but it is not limited to AC system, DC system, Building, SCADA and Plant level controls up to and including interfaces with the upper level customer control systems.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, validation, and installation of all Hybrid Control Systems
- Be involved in all phases of software & controls development from product definition to production release
- Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product
- Participate actively in design, code reviews, testing and software valuation
- Work closely with the ITO / OTR organization and the PM to manage control deliverables and requirements for Hybrid energy projects
- Understand the rules and regulations associated with regional electricity markets
- Work in a team to design, develop and deploy the control hardware configuration for each project and design the communication network, including but not limited to DI/DO, Ethernet, FO etc.
- Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products
- Support on-site start up and integration of system controls
- Track overall status of projects, deliverables, cut ins, and goals of the control team
- Have close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
- Develop, improve, and administrate customer overview and operational training material for the Hybrid control system.
- Work across engineering and service organization to prepare documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for use by internal GE employees and our customers
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Science or in STEM from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with developing software & controls with high-level software languages
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA)
- Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design, SW and Hardware.
- Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA and Modbus, as well as standard messaging protocols such as MQTT.
- Knowledge of power conversion systems and controls.
- Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and/or Python
- Experience with Linux operating systems & Docker
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodology
- Demonstrated expertise in energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal methods, systems integration, advanced controls or related technologies
- Demonstrated implementation of controls or systems integration in products
- Technical project leadership experience
- Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc.
- Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information
- Strong problem analysis and resolution skills
- Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time
- Can present technical plans in voice of customer
- Self-start attitude is strongly requested
