A Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Imaging instrumentation job has become available for a company developing a broad range of complex electronic technologies. This company provide 2-3 days work from home, as well as competitive benefits / salaries.
You will be working on 3D CAD designs developing electronic enclosures, whilst also considering the 'look and feel' of products which incorporate push buttons, displays, grips and other handheld parts. You will take technical ownership of mechanical engineering within the business.
Key responsibilities of the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer job:
- 3D CAD design for electronic enclosures / machine housing.
- Product design – working on the look and feel of products for human interface.
- Working closely with electronics and RF engineers to design products involving radar, radio frequency and microwave electronic technology.
- Material selection.
- Test, Analysis and Simulation (stress / thermal analysis)
- Leading and mentoring the mechanical design team.
Key skills required for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Defence Electronics job:
- Mechanical design using a 3D CAD package, ideally SolidEdge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Creo or similar.
- Experience with ruggedised, defence, aerospace, or similar critical tech product development.
- Experience of full product life cycle design.
- An understanding and interest in product design, working on the look and feel of an interactive product.
This Principal Mechanical Design Engineer job in Towcester, Northamptonshire would be commutable from Northampton, Milton Keynes, Banbury, Bicester and other parts of Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire. You will be eligible for a flexible working structure with opportunities to work from home 2 days per week.
