A leading research & development organisation are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their highly skilled R&D team in their site in Livingston, Scotland. This company design, develop and manufacture incredibly complex high-precision analytical instrumentation, which is applied into life science and laboratory equipment. Their technology includes high vacuum, high voltage electro-mechanical systems. This Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role is an opportunity to take technical authority over mechanical development within the business, which opportunities to lead / project manage processes and implement real change. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – High Precision Electronics will be working closely with a multi-disciplined R&D team on the design, development and support of complex scientific analytical systems, from concept through to manufacture. This role will be a mix of 3D CAD design of high vacuum / high precision systems and leading the development of projects from concept to manufacture.
Skills / experience required for this Mechanical Design Engineer – High Precision Electronics job:
- 3D CAD design experience from concept to manufacture, ideally using Solidworks, AutoCAD or similar.
- Experience in electro-mechanical high precision instrumentation.
- Experience in designing high vacuum systems (HV / UHV).
- Ability to design, test and analyse mechanical development.
- Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes.
- Team leading capabilities would be beneficial but not essential
